Feels Like an Eternity....

Hello again!  It seems like an eternity since I have wrote anything...and looking at the dates, it sure has been...Yikes!...Keeping up with 3 kids, a husband, farm critters, summer, back to school and 2 businesses has been a bit of a time blocker...but I have decided to be more dedicated to my blog and now also working on getting my Etsy store all set up and rollin'...I want to make a good go of my jewelry and accessory business so I can have more time with my autistic son and his education/theropies.
Well, now let's see if I can catch you up since April and the Funky Junk Show...I  did in May the Two Women's Art and Antique show, July was the Art in the Garden at the Northwest Rosarium, August had the Junk Salvation show in CDA, September brought the amazing Funky Junk Sandpoint show, then the fabulous Mad Hatter show by Junebug Furniture and Design in October, just finished the Vintage Finds and Handmade Treasures show by Unexpected Necessities, and now I am getting ready for the Two Woman Country Christmas show on December 3rd and 4th at the Moran Prarie Grange on the South Hill in Spokane....phewff...I hope I got it all...It has been a crazy busy show season in which was a huge learning experience! Understanding where my best sales demographics are and who my customers are...It was fun to have many repeat clients and to be called an artist...
So stay tuned for more, I promise...Pictures, Stories, and New designs to show you...this is going to be fun! xoErin~Ladybird Creations

Great Minds...

Having my hands and mind sitting idle seems like an impossible task for me... I have tried and tried to enjoy an entire movie without my thoughts straying...  if my hands are not in the middle of making something, then my mind is... however, new ideas are hard to come by these days... because just as I think I have thought of something new to do, just google it and there it is...
DRIVES ME NUTS...
I make these really tiny terrarium pendant necklaces...thinking I know people in the past have filled them with sand, rocks, liquids of sorts, potions and such...but what if I put a birds nest or wimsical mushrooms or itty bitty acorns in them?...make them into tiny 1" pieces of magical art...so I made them...and then came accross them on the web...seriously?... awe well... I suppose I am going to hand it up to "great minds think alike" and continue on... besides, they are too cute not to make...using my hands to make such petite details is completely satisfying and then the high of when you show them to someone and they wonder how-in-the-pickle barrel you made them... and I say, "I just did"...pointing to the tiny leaves and branches and eggs or acorns or mushrooms and smile because despite having the original idea or not, I made that...

My Precious Boy...

December 30th, 2010 came and I now have a handsome 13 year old son, Ryan...He is such a love, caring, gentle, and the best little diesel mechanic you have ever seen.  Since he was born, he has been in the shop.  We use to put him in the big bottom drawer of our tool box when he was tiny, and there we would sleep more soundly than anywhere else...He has been handling tools since he could walk and now can tear apart an engine, gigantic ones, with ease and doesn't think twice to do it.  He has mad talent down at our shop and it makes me smile...Recently Ryan has taken up the game of hockey...he has never been on ice skates before, just roller blades, but he was skating and being part of a team which is hard for him to do.  Why would that be hard for someone with such gifts?  My precious boy was recently diagnosed with PDD, a form of autism.  There..I said it out loud...I am a bit in shock over the word...He has had learning diabilities his whole life, but this never crossed my mind...But each day it settles in more and I realize that he is going to get he education he can use and that is a most excellent thing...and My precious boy is going to be the best he can be...

Here he is getting a reading goal award.

Let it snow~Let me create!

Woke up this morning to another snow storm in the Great Northwest...Blowing and drifting all day and I am so very thankful to have made it home tonight...We have had a very large project in the shop...an enormous Caterpillar engine for a log yard loader and thank goodness we finished it today!  A load off my mind as I prepare for another vintage/craft sale for this weekend.  I have earrings to make, and bracelets to sculpt...glass charms to create and crochet goodies to finish...rings to wrap and necklaces to design....3 days to go until set up and then show time!  So many things to do, all the ideas swimming around in my brain waiting to be executed...It will be an intense 3 days, which includes setting up on site....I hope the snow cooperates this weekend...but for now, let it snow!

Getting Started....1...2...3...Go!

So...here I am...clicking the keys of my computer and trying to think of what I should blog about...do you want to read of my daily life or just those special moments/events? Maybe just about what I do in amongst the creative, artistic, crafting world?
Well...I will just start with an introduction...
I am a mom and wife-first and foremost.  2 sons - a almost 13 year old and a 7 year old and a 11 year old daughter.  My husband of almost 15 years who I am head over heals for still....I love him.  I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I love vintage, old world things and decorate my home accordingly.  But my most shocking news is that while I appear to do normal mom and wife roles...my day job is a Diesel Machinist...that is, I work on rebuilding engine components that come out of semi-trucks, dump truck, tractors, graders, bulldozers....yep the big stuff.  Scraping grease, cutting metals, grinding steel...using the some of the biggest wrenches you will ever see...I go home with dirt and grime embedded into my skin and smell of used oil.  Sexy huh?  Well...my husband thinks so cause we work together in our own shop.
But other than my family...my passion is creating.  I love to weave wire and glass together to add an artistic flare to those who wear my pieces.  Being inspired by nature, antique style and oddly enough, where I work...makes for one unique look that I am proud to call Ladybird Creations.  And throw in a softer side, thanks to Grandma P, I love to crochet and create darling and cozy hats, scarves and baby accessories.  Strange combination..yes...but I hope you like the results...
